How we shifted our focus: Supporting young employees during onboarding

Starting a startup is a journey full of learning and changes. When we launched our company, our goal was to provide a solution in the broad field of coaching and mentoring. We believed that offering general guidance to people would be valuable and attract interest. But as we moved forward, we realized that this wide focus didn’t resonate with people as much as we hoped.

What we learned

At first, we were excited about the potential of coaching and mentoring for everyone. But we soon discovered that this broad approach made it hard to connect with a specific audience. People were interested in coaching, but they often wanted something more tailored to their needs.

We also saw that many competitors were offering similar general solutions. It became clear that we needed to find a niche where we could make a real difference.

Our new focus: Onboarding support for young employees

After analyzing feedback, studying the market, and reflecting on our strengths, we decided to narrow our focus. Now, our mission is to support young employees during the onboarding stage of their careers.

Why onboarding? Because starting a new job can be overwhelming, especially for young professionals. Many of them face challenges like understanding company culture, building relationships, and managing expectations. We saw a chance to help these employees feel more confident and supported during this critical period.

How this changed our solution

With this new focus, we redesigned our product to address the specific needs of young employees and their employers. Instead of trying to be everything for everyone, we now concentrate on providing tools and resources that make onboarding smoother and more effective.

For example, we’ve developed features to:

   •     Help new employees set realistic goals.

   •     Offer emotional support during their adjustment period.

   •     Provide practical tips for thriving in a new workplace.

Looking ahead

This shift in focus has given us a clearer vision and a stronger connection to our audience. We’re excited about the potential to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young professionals.
